Period 1 (24 Weeks)
Focus on a bunch of races in May. Started period with a week off the bike and a pretty gentle ramp.

08/02 | Mendips Lovely sunny day, not too much mud. Good to explore some new bits of the Mendips, should spend more time getting a decent loop together. |

22/02 | John’s Lakes Loop Using the Trek EX8. Weather was cold and clear. Pretty good conditions all in all. Some ice to keep things interesting. Whinlatter Blue & North With 4 inches of snow on the ground this made for very different experience. Even peddling up the road had its challenges. Very good fun, be nice to return with better weather conditions. Missed out about an hour forgetting to restart the Garmin. Guys at the bike shop were very helpful. Borrowdale short A short morning ride before heading home. 3rd day of riding and the legs are really beginning to feel it. Used the hard tail for this ride which made the rocky descents interesting. |

15/03 | Cwmcarn Twrch Had originally planned to do two laps, but with bad traffic and torrential rain decided to keep it to one. It was blooming hard work in the rain. Good to see avg. hr reducing while keep time roughly the same for a wet lap. |

10/05 | Folkestone Explorer First time in Folkestone, while i had planned on using my phone to navigate the batteries ran out so had to go by sight. Still managed to find some good bits and pieces. Cheddar Gorge MTB Randonees – Strong (serious cheddar) 58 km Weather looked bad at the start, but by the time we’d got off Blackdown the rain held off. Managed to get in a small group at from the start with someone who knew the route (many thanks to them), which helped a lot! Very good ride, road sections served as small breathers between the wealth of off road section the Mendips have to offer. |

17/05 | Cwmcarn Twrch x2 Lovely early start, pretty much had the place to myself even on the second lap. Fell off on the first lap … stalling on a bit of climb I usually clear. Felt pretty tired by the end, it really was hot. |

24/05 | Ashton Court Random Was planning on doing a couple of laps but got a bit confused so ended up just doing loads of random loops. Weather was closing in and I felt slow. Lost all confidence once the rain hit the roots and rocks. |

31/05 | Kona Bristol Bikefest Great day riding round and round Ashton Court (takes me back to the 90’s). Weather stayed good, a few drop of rain just helped damp down the dust. |
